Chaperone Info FEEcon 2021

Do I qualify to be a chaperone? Is there any preparation I need to do before the conference?

Yes! To apply to become a chaperone and volunteer at FEEcon, you must submit a copy of your resumé.  Experience with summer camps or other events with students is preferred, but not required. You must be 21+ years of age to qualify for this position. If selected, you will be required to complete an online minor’s training course, agree to a background check, and commit to upholding FEE values as a member of our team. Once this has been completed, you will be required to go through an onboarding process, where the FEE staff will train you on your specific role at the conference and go over best practices.

When will I find out if I qualify to be a chaperone?

Chaperones are accepted on a rolling basis. We try our best to contact every applicant within two weeks.

What will my main roles be at the conference?

Duties are assigned by the chaperone coordinator prior to the conference, and you will be informed of your role and schedule prior to the conference. If you have a special circumstance (such as restrictions on the days and times you are available), please email those to seminars@fee.org with the subject line ‘FEEcon Chaperone Applicant: YOUR NAME HERE’ for our consideration. Please have your registrant number listed in the email.

When do I need to arrive?

If accepted as a chaperone, you will receive this information via email. If you were accepted as a chaperone and after two weeks have not received any additional emails, please check your spam folder. If the problem persists, email seminars@fee.org with the subject line ‘FEEcon Chaperone Applicant: YOUR NAME HERE’. Please have your registrant number listed in the email.

Is this an overnight event?

No, this is not an overnight event.

Will my lodging be reimbursed?

Reimbursement is not available for chaperones. However, if you are a chaperone of a large group (defined by 21+ students in the group), email your concerns to seminars@fee.org with the subject line ‘FEEcon Large Group: YOUR NAME HERE’ and a member of FEE staff will work with you to find a solution. Please have the names and registrant numbers for each member of your party listed in the email.

Will meals be provided?

Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided. Additional snacks and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the conference.

What should I wear?

We recommend that chaperones and their students dress comfortably. That being said, we recommend business casual attire. Please note that we will be taking photos throughout the conference (which will become available through our Facebook page after the event), so come picture ready!

What if I want to attend but only if the pandemic is under control?

We understand that we are experiencing unprecedented challenges related to COVID-19. We are prepared to be flexible with our cancellation policy should the pandemic persist through Summer 2021. If you have purchased a ticket for FEEcon 2021 but have a health related concern due to COVID-19, please email seminars@fee.org with the subject line ‘FEEcon COVID-19 Concerns: YOUR NAME HERE’ so we can assist you. Please have the names and registrant numbers for each member of your party listed in the email. Please visit our COVID-19 plan for more information on our plan so far.

Who can I connect with if I have any other questions?

Please email seminars@fee.org with the subject line ‘FEEcon Chaperone Applicant: YOUR NAME HERE’ and a member of our programs team will be in touch with you about your concerns. Please have the names and registrant numbers for each member of your party listed in the email.
